  • Additional Christmas Garbage Collection

    The City of Portage la Prairie would like to announce its Christmas Curbside Collection Service for solid waste. There will be a limit of 4 containers per household on the 1st collection day following the Christmas Holidays.

  • Recycle Your Christmas Trees

    The City of Portage la Prairie will be recycling Christmas trees again this year.  

  • City Hall Re-opening to the Public on December 12th!

    City Hall will be re-opening to the public on Thursday, December 12th!

  • Solid Waste & Recyclable Schedules

    Watch for your new 2025 garbage collection schedule to be delivered soon.  If you do not receive one by December 31, you can call the Operations Department at 204-239-8346. Beginning January 2, 2025, they can be viewed on our website.

  • Budget Meeting - December 9, 2024

    On Monday, December 9th, 2024 at 7:30pm (or immediately following the 6:00pm Council and Committee meetings), Council will hold a Budget Meeting to review Capital Budget Requests.  The meeting will take place upstairs at City Hall, 97 Saskatchewan Avenue E.

  • Notice: Area 3 Water Bills Due to Current Postal Strike

    Water bills for Area 3 of the City would normally be mailed out at the end of November with a due date of December 20th. To avoid a delay in receiving your bill due to the current postal strike, you can sign up for e-billing. This can be done in person at our temporary City Hall office at 60 Saskatchewan Ave E, or fill out the online E-Billing form here.

    The City of Portage la Prairie announces that City Manager Nathan Peto will be departing from his position after seven years of dedicated service. Mr. Peto will be leaving to pursue a new professional opportunity. His last day with the City will be January 27th, 2025.
