Trees

If you have a tree that overhangs your property or is damaged and you believe it belongs to the City, contact the Operations Department at 204-239-8346. Alternatively, you can complete a Tree Removal Application form and drop off at the Operations Department, located at 495 11th Street NW.

If it is a tree that belongs to your neighbor this is a matter between you and your neighbor. The City does not regulate the trimming of trees on private property. Property owners are responsible for resolving issues regarding trees overhanging property lines. If you are unable to reach an agreement with your neighbor and want to determine your legal rights, you will need to consult a lawyer.

For trees in direct contact with power lines, trimming is no longer a do-it-yourself project. Instead, call Manitoba Hydro at 1-888-624-9376 for assistance outside Winnipeg.
