Alarm Permit

Alarm permits are required for alarm systems installed in any residential or commercial building. There is no charge for this permit. Excessive false alarms fees will be charged, as outlined in the Fees and Charges Schedule, after 3 or more false alarms in 12 calendar months.

Building Service Connection Form & Permit

A service connection permit is required by anyone wanting to connect water and wastewater service pipes to their property. Permits are available for purchase at the Operations Building, 495 11th Street N.W. There is a fee for building service connection permits as set out in the Fees & Charges Schedule.

Curb Cut / Driveway Permit

A curb cutting permit is required by anyone wanting to cut a curb or install an approach for the construction of a driveway. Permits are available for purchase at the Operations Building, 495 11th Street N.W. There is a fee for curb cutting permits as set out in the Fees & Charges Schedule.

Land Planning and Construction Permit

The Portage la Prairie Planning District oversees the District Development Plan, Building By-law and Zoning By-law for the City of Portage la Prairie. Contact the Planning District at 204-239-8345 for more information or visit the Planning District website.

Outdoor Burning Appliance Permit

The City of Portage la Prairie Open Air Fire By-law requires a permit for use of an approved outdoor burning appliance. This permit need only be obtained once unless the appliance is moved, and there is no fee for this service. Outdoor Burning Appliance Permits can be obtained at the Portage Fire Department. Arrangements will be made for an inspection of your appliance in order to make sure that all safety requirements are met.

Open Air Fire Permit

The City of Portage Open Air Fire By-law allows fires under certain circumstances. Section 1 through 6 of the General Requirements specifies the material which may be burned and the guidelines for burning. The regulations regarding Open Air Fires (Specific Burn) are clearly stated. Parade Permit Street Closure Request

Under the Traffic By-Law, a Parade Permit is required for parade events. Complete the Parade Permit Application and drop it off at the Portage Fire Department at 124 3rd Street NE. If a street closure is required for the event, application must be made to the City of Portage la Prairie at least six weeks in advance.

Tree Removal Application
