Parks Committee – Members Needed

The Parks Committee is a group of engaged community members appointed and supported by the City of Portage la Prairie. This community-driven committee:

  • works cooperatively with the City to advise on the development and improvement of parks and green spaces to meet the recreation and leisure needs of all residents
  • makes recommendations on equipment and upgrades through consultation with the community
  • assists in raising funds for projects as prioritized by the committee
  • encourages the use of current parks and green spaces and promotes their value in relation to land development plans
  • provides a quarterly activity report to Council, and sometimes presents their projects and activities at Council meetings
  • meets monthly, and communicates as needed

Who Should Apply:

We welcome applications from residents who:

  • are committed to improving our community
  • have a diverse range of experiences and perspectives
  • are willing to attend monthly meetings
  • can work collaboratively with others
