2024 Pet Licenses

All dogs and cats over the age of 6 months must be licensed annually. Pet licenses for the 2024 year are available at no cost if registered between January 2nd – March 31st. Proof of a current rabies vaccination will be required at the time of registration. If registered after March 31st, the cost for a spayed/neutered dog or cat is $25. The cost for a non-spayed or intact dog or cat is $60. The penalty for failing to obtain a valid pet license is $100.

There are various ways you can register your pet:

  1. In Person – In person at City Hall, 97 Saskatchewan Ave E, between 9:00 am – 4:30 pm.
  2. Online – Complete the online Pet License Application form and upload a copy of your pet’s current rabies vaccination papers.
  3. Drop Box – Print off an application form, fill it out and drop the completed application form with proof of current rabies vaccination in our drop box at the front doors of City Hall.
  4. Mail – Mail in all applicable documents to City Hall, Attention: Pet Licensing at 97 Saskatchewan Ave E, Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, R1N 0L8
