The City of Portage la Prairie Fire Department is contracted to provide Fire and Rescue services to the Rural Municipality of Portage la Prairie, Dakota Tipi First Nation and Long Plain First Nation’s Urban Reserve. All full-time firefighters are required to be certified fire inspectors. We cover an area of approximately 864 square miles and a population of approximately 20,000 people.

Additional Services:

Portage Fire Department administers many of the City Bylaws including the Fire Bylaw, Open Air Fire Bylaw, Solid Fuel Furnace Bylaw, Traffic Bylaw including Parking Services and the Animal Control Bylaw.

Portage Fire Fighters Social Club:

The Portage Fire Fighters Social Club participates in many community events and maintains a food booth which runs at the Portage Industrial Exhibition each year.
