Portage la Prairie Skatepark

ProjecBackground

The City of Portage la Prairie is in the early stages of planning for a new community skatepark. The skatepark will be located on the Simplot Central Park site, as proposed in the City’s Recreation Framework Plan, and will be integrated with existing and future park amenities.

Scatliff+Miller+Murray and Transition Construction Inc. have been engaged to carry out the design / build process in collaboration with the City, the Portage Parks Committee, and the community. With the design portion of the project set to commence immediately, we are asking you to share your ideas and aspirations for the new skatepark. To participate in the first online public survey, please find the link below under “Engagement”.

Here is some additional information about the Portage la Prairie Skatepark project:

  • The public survey is only the first opportunity to participate – stay tuned to this project webpage for additional opportunities to get involved as the design process advances.
  • The project is planned to include a hill or multiple hills near the skatepark for winter uses.
  • Once a conceptual skatepark design is completed, the Portage Parks committee will continue fundraising prior to beginning construction. During this time the technical construction drawings will be completed, with the goal that, if the funding is secured, construction could start in 2022.

Engagement
